Please Tell Me It's Raining

Please Tell Me It’s Raining

Please tell me it’s raining.

It’s not sunny and warm.

If the Sun is shining

It means you are gone.

Don’t leave me the sunshine

and a heart that is blue.

Come inside and listen

while I explain to you.

My eyes can’t be crying

over something so small.

I said you could leave dear.

It won’t matter at all.

My lips are quivering.

My cheeks are all wet.

Please tell me it’s raining

and I’ve not lost you yet..

This note that I’m holding

says you’re honest and true

but the words I’m reading

they are all turning blue.

It must be those raindrops

turning your note to blue

for if it’s not raining

It means I’m losing you.

My eyes are both cloudy.

They seem hazy and gray.

Can’t see what I’m reading

that says you’re going away.

It’s got to be the wind

causing pain in my heart

for if it’s still tranquil

then surely we’re apart

Because it is raining,

If that’s what’s keeping you

then there still is some time

to say that I love you.

Please tell me the Earth moved

and the world is shaking

for my body is trembling

cause my heart is breaking.

Please tell me it’s raining

I can’t take any more!.

Is it you that I see

coming back through that door?

"I said you could leave dear.
    It won’t matter at all".

This touched me - I know this dynamic very well and for once you have provoked me into a positive review of a love piece.
Haven't used the term 'poem' because I'm sure it is a song. Have you put it to music? If not, find someone, please.

Thanks D.D. - Wow. I never picked up on the rhythm this possesses. Better still, that it touched you.
I have no musical contacts. They are all gone or no longer involved. I sense that you are not fond of love poetry but really like love songs. Is that true?

      • Doggerel Dave

No, not really - it's the way you tell 'em....

      • Fay Slimm.

Oh Phil - the write deeply stirs this reader's emotion with its weathered appeal - - - love sometimes becomes so sadly one-sided it can and does indeed break the heart.

        • MendedFences27

Thank you, Fay. I think I write about rain too much. Although it easily lends itself to love's disappointments.
Thanks for the read and comments.

This is terrible Phil .. terribly well thought out, terribly well crafted and writ .. and terribly touching and sad ..
