Nostalgia

Sydney_87

Bright pink petals blossom,
and fall far from the trees which they belong to.
Popping up every now and again,
they die and regrow each autumn and spring.
Cycling through each stage,
never appreciating the beauty,
innocence radiating from each petal.
Like once forgotten memories,
lingering forever in the unconscious mind.
Until one day they’ll share their story,
reminding you how far you came.

Petals flowing in the cool wind,
waiting to be remembered.
Though they aren’t all lucky…
regretful or bleak,
happy or hopeful.
Are best forgotten,
never feeling the same as when you started.

Planting the seeds in unfertilized soil,
the only thing you had.
It grew so well though,
there’s something so unexplainable,
and replaying the scene only brings tears.
Had it really been so many years?
Longing for that first taste,
but nothing can bring it back.
Saying you’d rather be dead.
To be reincarnated,
So to experience them once more.

Pink petals similar to my lined skin.
but both made me feel again.
So the choice I’d make is simple:
I’d repeat my life a thousand more times,
If my feelings ran deeper the first time I saw them.
