if i were a flower

dusk arising

If i were a flower
then even in death
use would be found
for my once
magnificent display
laid now
a browned and sodden
part of the mulch
upon the fertile ground
which fed me,
beneath the air
where once I shone
magnificent.
If I were a rodent
then in my passing
i would feed a fox or owl.
Were I an earthowrm
then a hedgehogs
repast would i be.
But i am a human
who makes plastic bags
for industry.
What use
has nature
for me
or my produce.

Well written and thought out. It gives pause as to what our purpose is. Instead of being so arrogant maybe we should assume our proper place.
