Two thousand and eight;
part of it was great.
Part of it I hate.
My brother went upstate,
while I went to Haiti,
as a missionary.
Part of it was kind of scary.
I saw alot of voodoo,
and a real live zombie.
... but it couldn't touch me,
because I had Christ on me.
My brother called me every week,
Fifty-two times.
I thought I was alone,
but Christ was by my side,
telling me it would be alright.
'Trust in Me, and I will be your guide.
I'm all you need.
Follow me.
I will take the lead.
Remember why I died,
on the tree'.
I'm a man of constant trials;
a man of constant sorrows.
All I know,
is God will be,
with me tomorrow.

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this piece because as I was looking through my drawer, I noticed my old shirt that said, 'Haiti Missionary 2008'. I just began thinking of that year. When I wrote this, I wrote it to be more of a song than a poem. Still, I hope you enjoy it. Christ is Truth. Persistence is key

Good write Dion.
you have got to tell me about this my love,it's great
My love,
When I went to Haiti to help spread the Gospel of Christ Jesus, it did not really surprise me, even though it was my first time there. I sort of knew what to expect. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale has alot of Haitians, and I always knew that satan and voodoo was rampant amongst alot of Haitian culture.
Still, even though I know that you cannot really bring someone back from the dead, (Ironically, Christ was the only one who ever did that), it was still eiree seeing someone making a dead body rise.
2008 was a wild year for me. It would take alot more than a poem to tell you about it.
Persistence is key
