Love Aversion

Robert Isaacs Chiwala

You are the person

Who has instilled in me this fear

That translated my happiness into tears

And converted all love good feelings into a pain

I thought love was sweet

I didn't think of sweet sour

I thought it was tender and soft

That it could not prick my flesh like thorn bushes

Then I loved you

I gave you my time

I gave you everything

In return you broke my heart

I thought you had conscience

That you could not be dangerous

I entrusted you with my heart

You pierced it like a double edged sword

Just for your love

My heart had bled

And lost faith and trust in love

Surely you are my love aversion

I get it, 'you' as in specific
to point it out, as in
only 'you, are my love aversion..'
    that's a healthy mindset, I think
not to carry over one relationship's
    experience, into another
    good or bad..
give each connection, a clean slate
    a fair chance..
    a good message
    thanks for sharing, dear poet
