nothing new under the sun

As we tiptoe across the gravity of our situation 

Let’s not forget the sky has yet to fall 

Nihil sub sole novum 

There is time yet, to live our lives

 

Past forgotten, future near

Time knows all but will not lift the veil 

Years will pass, ignorance to prevail 

The trees have swayed the same for years 

 

Why does the sun burn for us?

We know

It has always known 

There is nothing new that allows it to learn 

 

Trivial, unremarkable, far away 

It has watched us as we it

A timepiece on display 

We shut our eyes to its command, each day 

 

So, as we lift our hands in songs of praise

Thanks to the Father for caring

And showing us the way 

Let’s not forget 

 

There is nothing new tomorrow, or today.
