Explorers

jenwriter121

Remember when we were explorers?

The world was a blank slate which we drew upon

The squiggles of lines leading into no direction

that prying eyes would find.

Remember when we were explorers?

The music that we listened to

Was sweet and incoherent

To everyone else's’ ears

Our words were a gibberous language

Filled with pitches of impossible frequencies

Our gestures were animalistic

Our home was in a world that no one else knew existed

Filled with mutual understanding

and unending empathy
