The Lost Child

Ikity

Things that slowly start killing the land of living,

The lake full of zeal and the hills high of hopes to be someone thriving.

Where has he landed now?

With the passing of every moment the innocent child gets even farther away,

Leaving his grown us self in darkness too difficult to sway.

Across the river of joyfulness past the mountains of sunlike liveliness,

He went on and on without even stoping for once and had something called happiness.

But as it is said nothing lasts forever and time has to pass by,

To his surprise he was left all alone as he took a deep sigh.

Moments of pain and severity lingered around his mind full of fears,

He even waited to have them all out but was reciprocated only with tears.

He lost all the hopes of being able to cross-paths with the little wanderer ever again and sensed jerks,

He somewhere realised how life full of melancholy yet beautiful works

Nothing here is going to last like the evermore glory of the rain,

But we'll have the memories to cherish for the rest of our lives again.

We need to value every moment as if it's the end,

Continuing ahead without longing for something that's already gone makes our life an invaluable present.

Fainter it gets, once you're to close your eyes at the end of your heartfelt sunset,

Make sure to conclude it all with a smile that will have no regrets.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem highlights the sensation of regret one feels after losing himself as a child who would wander across miles and miles in happiness. Deep down somewhere we all miss ourselves as children. Growing up is without any doubt a blessing but it has also got something to leave behind. The child we were. Eventually losing your precious self who did not seem to care even a bit about the cruel world. It is hard to move on from a phase so valuable and dear to our heart but we have to accept the fact that memories of the moments lived with tranquility and satisfaction stays with us throughout our so called journey of life. So it is all the more important to live life to the fullest without having regrets.
