Falling Under Life’s Radar

Jenny Brav

I lie low.

Fear follows
me down,
furrows
under my brows.

Tracks into my heart.

My breath shallows
so I can’t be
followed.
Found.

Residual ancestral trauma
buried deep in my DNA.

I tread water,
skimming the surface of life,
trying to fall under its radar
to stay safe—
if stultified.

Something in me awakens.
Longs for more than survival.

Sea Turtle nudges me
Into movement,
tempts me with
underwater pirouettes—
nautical flying.

What if life wants me
in her radar?
