HER TURN

viv

She met God in the waiting room

He shared a funny story and she laughed

He looked like a thousand smiles and smelt like summer blooms

Her chair grew comfier as she waited her turn

The music started and the light bulb shone gloriously

Someone strew rose petals, as she heard her name called

So she gathered her loving ways

And left a note for the next person

To listen and to love

As God waited

Beside the empty chair.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this after losing my mother, and two days before her funeral, in remembrance of her. \r\nIt was read out at the service. Loss definitely elicits creative expressive moments.

Hi jazzwa30, thank you, it's my first time here, and in fact on any poetry site for that matter, so was very nervous posting!
