Stardust

We are children of the cosmos,

Stardust lies within our bones,

And galaxies swim through our blood,

Searching for rebirth.

 

Our souls were forged from fiery pits,

Buried deep within the core of our planet’s heart

Molded over the centuries,

And instilled with distant knowledge.

 

Our eyes have seen the explosion of time,

When our universe became warped,

Spinning endlessly around us, 

Volatile and unrestrained. 

 

We have seen our kind fade from existence,

Dying stars,

Catapulting through orbit, 

Their souls burning like the tails of comets. 

 

We have watched them ascend,

With flames licking their charred skin,

Carbon beings preparing for destruction,

To make room for new life.

 

Our celestial bodies are evanescent,

Built from the rubble of meteorites,

And shaped by the gravitational force,

Our vast galaxy provides. 

 

The only solace our brief existence offers,

Is the knowledge of our demise,

The comforting thought of temporary existence,

The beauty of creation undone.
