I’m hanging with the Natives, Asians, and the Latinas. They’re asking me to hide so haters can’t see us.
It hurts to see people fight, and children crying. Black people hurt, and Christians dying.
See can you tell me, what’s the reason? Hate shouldn't spread like illness during cold and flu season.
I’ve had enough of hearing of salt to the wound. I'm speaking up, so it won't touch my people soon.
To you, It sounds crazy for a girl to fight til the right victory’s won. But I’m going to say that I stand for everyone.
Walking the streets, being judged by the whole neighborhood. Girls my age get nothing but misunderstood.
So I’ll stand for our own rights. And I’ll speak out against the violence and fights.
For my body and face, you think I should feel shame. But I’m beautiful now, that’s forever my claim.
I’ve had enough of hearing of salt to the wound. I’m speaking up, so it won’t touch my people soon.
To you, It sounds crazy for a girl to fight til the right victory’s won. But I’m going to say that I stand for everyone.

- Comment from author about the poem: This poem is my first time speaking about my political opinions, and it's my way of fighting for equality. Not just gender equality, but for race, and our choice of religion.
