Don't Keep Me Waiting

Robert Isaacs Chiwala

I don't want to have false hopes

This trust I have is irreplaceable

Please do not feed me with such lies

Once ruined my trust is irreparable

Can you search your mind before you go?

You know its beat do not feign it

Perhaps my faith might grow before you go

Please look in my eyes to confirm it

Search your mind before you promise

Where your deepest intentions lie

Let your voice from there arise

Your conscience might be haunted if it's a lie

Don't Keep me waiting in vain

That when you come I shall be alone in rain

    Brilliant!
I shall cherish that first stanza for such a long time
    such a deeply poignant
and relatable theme of human fragility
unfurled, in such accessibly choice wording...
thank you! for choosing to share
    dear Poet
