The Transcendental Edge

C.J. Dragon

"At the edge of time
In the market of enchanted wares
A melodic voice inquires for a mere dime
To quell the hunger within family affairs
But better instead to spend it upon a wish
Within the well there is not even a fish

Take up the crimson shroud
And raise the ashen palisade
Incinerate the crowd
Deny the care that bade
A raging inferno to become
The single ember dying and numb

Don the jet cloak
Shadow-step into twilight
Become the unseen thief of smoke
Grasping at the eve as if to gain insight
Into hearts made of phosphorescent sooth
How simply you forget manners, how uncouth

Upon a violet stretch with onyx undertones
Glimmers the hope of the stars
To ameliorate the cosmos of the blackened bones
Left in lieu of battles fought behind bars
Upon the marble board a move made late
So unto history a riddled stalemate

On the cusp of dusk to dawn
When moon and sun clash for reign
The power of the soul becomes drawn
As the bow ready to aim
And so here adversity to make the accidental pledge
To fall victim to our Transcendental Edge."
