Covert

Fay Slimm.

Covert.

I see

butterscotch evenings,
lollipop skies of amber-cream,
last light frothing waves
as sea's olive coverlet changes
to caramel-sepia.

*

*
I see

                 twilight blush streaking
                  dusk in stripe humbug-tints,
                         pink cheeks dimpling
         as honied in cherry-lip mem'ry
              arises clandestine scenes.

*

*

I see

Treacle-soft times sealing
promise of secret trials,
offers of pleasure
as sundown uncovers eager
share in mutual feelings.

*

*

I see

Chocolate-smooth dreaming
invades ever after to hold
close romantic moments
             spent in covert still tasting
of first love sweetness.

Hue would have thought it possible to capture so many colours and shades of shades even covertly held yet freely available to those who want to see them at each end of the day .......................... x
