still thy tongue, you often preferred
childhood silence, seen not heard
in pen and paper I began to mend
embracing my lady, my musing friend
I stilled my tongue as you decreed
an unnatural mute, a child not free
in her embrace life awoke
awash with words, we broke their yoke
my voice now loud ringing clear
unspoken words with nothing to fear
upon the page my lady rules
we have much to say but not to fools
