Dollhouse
Barbie Ken
Thee ideal couple
their offspring
Thee ideal kids
But your on the outside looking in
A doll house
Allows you to replicate your idea of perfection
Playing dress up to be something else
A painted smile so no one thinks anything is wrong
But I’m on thee inside
looking in I see
A marriage with more codependency then love
A son with more anger then passion
A daughter with more secrets then trust
A mother with more scars then kisses
A father with more words then actions
Siblings with more hatred then admiration
This family has more flaws then perfection
Outside your seeing
A marriage full of passion
A son full of intelligence
A daughter with so many talents
A mother spoiled with gifts
A father with lots of money
Siblings with the closest bond
A family you admire
All true but
This is a doll house
That picture is painted for you who’s
on the outside looking in

- Comment from author about the poem: We are all on the inside of our own whilst on the outside of others. It’s an illusion your judgment was clouded by the facade.
