Decades

Shavon Harrington

For

decades,

I faced

 rage,

head on,

face to face,

We made

eye contact,

I stared evil

 in the face,

evil went

insane

Emotionally

 exhausted

from facing

evil in the eye

,no shade ,

evil shadow

made me

 cry out

 in praise

        For decades

I was trapped

in a closet,

I became a

 stranger

 in my own skin

        For decades

 I began to

 forget about

who I was,I

 lost my

 inner fear,

I became

vulnerable,

weakling

with cheer,

heartless,

I fought back

with rage

      For decades

evil destroyed

 my wrath,

I pointed fingers,

I blamed ,

until one-day

reality struck,

 for a quick

 second I lost

 insight on

what was

 most important

, forgiveness,

revenge ,

God promises

For decades

 I put it in

God's hands,

I prayed,

I overcame
