Meant for it

Sonoran Bard

MEANT FOR IT

How was anyone meant for this?

This place is so cold and angry and bare.

It all looked so beautiful and hopeful.

Even the barest corners were enough for us.

Everything seemed to live off joy and love.

I saw endless fields of hope and prosperity.

Don’t mind me and my reminiscing of what was never real.

I’m just an emotionally-neglected millennial weakling.

I had a culture shock when I realized how sheltered I am.

I still have lingering feelings for my rose-coloured glasses.

I miss the way I used to look at the world, I miss the innocence.

Growing up alongside the internet has scarred me in ways I still don’t know.

We all want easy, cheap, and beautiful,

But wonder why porn is so prevalent.

We want the highest value for our time,

But complain about corporate greed.

We all want others to know our worth,

But wonder why we don’t treat everyone equally.

I bought what was for sale.

I assumed it was safe for use.

How can we all not see the evil?

How can we all not see God?
