Scars

sorenbarrett

The path I've chosen has taken its toll

And wrote its cankers in my soul

The sores not only from adversity

But many from stupidity

These ooze, they fester, and just won't heal

Some with pain, others I can't feel

No matter how ever you've behaved

No one gets through this fight unscaved

Some wounds dealt from foes most dire

Others received from friendly fire

The worst are those that are self inflicted

They leave you disgraced, eternally afflicted

Marks of ignorance, sloth and greed

Sap my strength as they bleed

Lacerations of war can go unheeded

But traumas of love can't be exceeded

Whether the battle to win or loose

Warrior or victim it's yours to choose

Deep reflection and honesty here. Somehow we manage to find the counterbalance to those scars that life seems inflicts upon us, we have to keep moving forward. Well penned!
