The Beauty Standards

teenage girl

I WISH I WAS THE BEAUTY STANDARD
tall with a button nose and WHITE
But I am not
I am a 5'3 black teenage girl
It is heartbreaking to realize that you will never fit into that mold
It is heartbreaking that I will have to
except who I am
Fake it till you make people say
Every time I try
My inner most thoughts creep up
Then I'm back to self-loathing

It is heartbreaking to realize that your
Heart won't except who you are
Every time I try I am digging a
even more deeper gave for
myself to fall back into
I wish I can change everything about myself
I wish I would wake up and I would be different
I WISH I WAS THE BEAUTY STANDARD

beauty lies in the eye of the perceiver and the only beauty standard i approve is being kind and giving to the world. in a world so impermanent physical beauty is just another thing that rapidly changes with time. never feel less because of a society, patronizing a specific kind of beauty, that is less than you. we all are unique and beautiful in our own way. no one is less pretty or much prettier than the other because there's no comparison. we all are so unique how can we just compare a single aspect? remember dear poetess, black roses are one of the rarest types of roses and they are a glorious sight to behold! you don't have to wish to be a standard beauty because you already are one!
nice lines btw, great job! keep penning and have a lovely day!

Everybody wants to be the person next door. That is, till the person next door hits rock bottom. Be yourself and people will gravitate towards you.
