I am the animal that I am,
I let a man best me again.
I pray this is retribution for past transgressions.
Lord, please help me learn this lesson
Because I struggle to subdue the flames he ignited within.
Burdening him with it would be a sin
So, I choose self-immolation.
Through careful contemplation,
I know this Hell is of my own creation
Because I am the animal that I am
I am the animal that I am
I am the animal that I am.
It disturbs me how deeply I crave you,
I try my hardest to save you,
To save you from me.
The beast awakened within,
Wants to be engulfed by you,
Overwhelm you, and consume you
Please, forgive me.
I am the animal that I am.
Each word you speak ricochets throughout my mind
Giving birth to parallel universes
Infinite possibilities too divine.
But, I’m no use to you in my current state
Too much karmic debt through penance I must repay,
And you know the Devil always gets his dues.
Then, there’s the truth.
Truth is, I’m not worth to you what you are to me
You were my light bearer who showed me how coitus should be
Forever immortalizing yourself within my memories.
I’m hypnotized by you, and I refuse to be disillusioned
If I keep this up, I know I’ll never find the solution.
Because I am the animal that I am.
I am the animal that I am
I am the animal that I am.
