The Park

Dasim

Someone was sitting

on my park bench.

Quietly, I sat

next to him.

He nodded

just so slightly

and he smiled

not with his lips

but with his eyes.

And so we breathed

the fall air together

facing straight ahead,

looking backwards,

as far as our memories would take us,

We parted as friends

Two strangers

After sharing silence.
