wren

I quietly step out of the dark to gaze at an endless eburnean expanse

Flesh catches and tears on absentminded teeth

Dredging dried river beds for fallen stars

A bottle half-full of golden dreams erases the line between contentment and apathy

Recline in that ebony landscape, polished to a perfect dullness

Each heartbeat a thunderclap

Each inhale an illumination

Each pulse of blood through my wrists a revelation

I sit in a warm silence and watch time wrap around my hands, a tide of endless ebbs pooling around my waist with a gentle grasp
