Quiet Moonlight

Noah Malice

midnight in the garden
the moon is flying high
the men up there are looking
at the earth in their sky

plum trees and pepper plants
sleep peaceful in the night
dreaming of the warmth of day
caressed by gentle light

and over in the pigeon pen
it's quiet in their town
and even the vibrant colors
in their feathers may lie down

and a phone is ringing way up there
far beyond the whispy air
my dear my wife my love my life
it's nights like this i wish to share

the life you left below the call
sometimes seems not here at all
maybe my love you'll come home soon
and end me tracking phases of the moon
