One Day

Dr. Soma

One day, in the very early morning, I woke up,

Finished my morning prayer and went to the park to walk.

That day, I saw a little girl, sitting on the bench in the garden, crying alone,

Asked her name and saw her innocent face, a lovely smile, which touched my bone.

Maya, the name of the girl, she came here mistaken,

She was with her parents to enjoy a city fair but suddenly lost them.

A mishappen happened to her, and she lost her dear ones,

Life became empty, lonely, and zero just at once.

I took her in my lap and came to my home with new hope,

I gave her a new life, a new identity, with no more nope.

After twenty years, when she completed her education,

Being a lawyer, she proved herself the best citizen of the nation.

I felt proud and thanked God for giving me a little angel that day,

I blessed her from the core of my heart, and that day made me lucky one day.
