Child On the Street

RAW

Standing alone, child on the street

Tattered clothes, lonely eyes, no shoes

Tear stained face lost in the heat

How did you arrive at such defeat

Life should not require of you, dues

Standing alone, child on the street

Childhood should be a loving treat

Never something, ever, to lose

Tear stained face lost in the heat

Loosen your constraints, have a seat

Hard to see now through life’s blues

Standing alone, child on the street

Of misery you shall not eat

Youth awash in loving kind hues

Assurance comes, loves never been beat

Child you and love will come to meet

Rest not your innocence on rues

Standing alone, child on the street

Tear-stained face lost in the heat
