Strings

ArkWoodsAuthor

You hold my heart in a harness
Using it like a corset
Tightening the strings slowly
As the sound of time ticking
Drown out me screams.

My lungs fill with the tears
Meant to fall but unable to escape
They cause the breath to disappear
From my lips and into the moonlight.

Life creeping from my eyes
As every memory of you burns into
The night like a long goodbye.
