The Cold Light of Day

jenny.g

The things we promise

When we are joined together

In moments of ecstasy

Mean nothing in the cold light of day

In that glimmer of time

I am yours and you are mine

But when the sun slithers and creeps through the window

Invading our haven and bursting our bubble

My true self awakens and I know

We are temporary

Self preservation I’m afraid. I’m not as fearless as your words imply you are when it comes to love. Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the ride 😊

I took this to apply to more than relationships or people and seems more true than most would like to believe.

              Yes. Everything is temporary
