The air was clear and placid in the morning
The leaves were still napping on the boughs
That lull was hypnotizing for the will
As time had decided to stand still
The calm had granted quietness to my mind
To my senses gave a languid peace
The muse was silent, her song no longer near
In deep slumber was the earthly sphere
In all that calm my heart was quite content
My thoughts followed paths devoid of aim
Meadows were covered with a soothing green
Mountain peaks ahead were barely seen
Is it life this still and morbid lull
When body and spirit lethargy allures?
Is it living when our soul won’t even cry
The heartbeat marks time that’s passing by?
A gust of wind dispersed those gloomy thoughts
A wind with the force of hurricane
The sea could feel its power with a roar
High waves kept on battering the shore
My face became pale from dreadful fright
Its chilling power gripped my quivering heart,
My soul to this commotion remained blind
Neither anchor nor refuge could ever find
Calm has returned as a dear friend
It’s not the torpid calm of yesteryear
It keeps on seeking me, seduces still
But it’s alive and feeds intent and will
Order now controls the universe
To order my mind again is bent
The muse is back and beckons to the dance
I join in her embrace, caught in her trance
