The Melancholy Night

darknessandlight

Sitting here all alone on a dark night

Under a black and stormy sky

Listening to raindrops falling on the skylight

Trying so hard not to cry

Looking over the city so bright

Remembering our last good-bye

With tears blurring my sight

I let out a melancholy sigh

Wishing you were here tonight

As the shadows grow long

Lightning flashes across the dark sky

Memories play to the rhythm of our song

Lost in the tempo my heart begins to fly

Sighing as begin to sing along

As it ends I finally let myself cry

Picturing myself in your arms where I belong

You were my north star, my guiding light

The answer to all my dreams

Nothing left but your picture I cling to at night

No remedy to my silent screams

Without an end in sight

Tears run to my pillow in silver streams

Can't stifle them try as I might

You were the love of my life

Nothing left but a bittersweet memory

My heart cut into ribbons by your knife

Couldn't handle the games and dishonesty

Your constant need for chaos and strife

Our downfall and my agony

Still I want you back in my life
