The tax I pay is forty dollars a day
One hundred dollars for the mortgage is a chore
The maintenance it's true is no more than you
Forty five dollars to keep roof and floor
To keep it cool, ten dollars is the rule
The insurance is thirty dollars more
The water to pay is two dollars a day
Then there is the gas to go to the store
At over two hundred dollars a day let me say
This doesn't include car, food, and more
My pocket they pick that doesn't cover if I get sick
On a fixed income I am poor

I've often thought the phrase "the cost of living"is a misnomer. It's more "the cost of surviving"' in a commercial, political, impersonal world. Quite accurate my friend.
Thank you Bella, for enduring my rant. Sometimes the mood changes from serious to humor to rant.
