Why does the "Pink Panther" have to drink so much ?
I suppose it must be in his north east genes,
Inherited at birth, left with a big crutch,
Durham born in the depression, so it seems,
For Geordie's, drinking's been the local sport,
Tradition, passed from a father to his son,
For a Durham lad, does what he has been taught,
After a really hard day's work's been done.
At least "Pink Panther," escaped working down pits,
Or in all of those huge ship yards locally,
Becoming a detective, using his wits,
A much better job, with such variety.
How can I be sure that he comes from Durham,?
His signature tune you see, Dur..ham..Dur..ham !
