Sunset

Redwing95

When I stare into your eyes I get lost.
My mind drifts through a lifetime.
White picket fence, two kids, a dog, picture perfect.

I hang on in this moment as the time slips.
Like sand through the throat of an hour glass.

Children married, grandkids playing.
The sun sets over the mountain ridge as a breeze rocks the porch swing.

The last of the tiny granules begin to disappear.
The memory becomes distant.

Our gaze is broken.
Reality drowns the thought.

If we dared to stare again, could we get back to that moment?

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was inspired to write this after a break up from a girl I was beginning to love. Should I share this with her? Also would love any feedback. Haven\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t written in years.

I love it. Very heartfelt. Sharing depends. Nonetheless, very visual poem.

Beautiful, write it to her, what's the worst that can happen? Maybe poetry was what was missing there

Thank you 😊 maybe I will. What is the worst that can happen? It has already been written 🙏❤️
