Have we forgotten?

sorenbarrett

Settled by the Rus

Mother of the Russian people

Over run by the mongols

Their own language banned to their own children

Here was the charge of the light brigade

Florence Nightingale nursed the wounded

In the bread basket of the Soviet Union

Stalin's Holodomor

Purposely starved to death 4 million

Invaded by the Nazies

4 million evacuated

1.5 million genocided jews

5 to 7 million victims of war

From famine1 million more

The Chernobyl disaster

And now?

Could the chain and recurrence be that there is a forgetfulness that needs reminding? Nuts and bolt to the proverb about history 'repeating' itself? And that this isn't an isolated case where darkness and injustice is insidious and persistent. Help us to remember.... more. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you crypticbard for your attention to this piece and your welcome comment. Ukraine has a long dark history of suffering, and it seems that it has always been left to do so on its own. Once again, despite sanctions, no physical help has been offered.

I must endorse this - I've argued the relevance of history on these pages for a while. Kudos to you for the provision of concrete cues the open minded could follow...
