Intoxicated

Amit.Singh

Poison running through our veins,
Taken to relieve the pain,
Of past regrets, anxieties of tomorrow,
In futile attempts, to drown our sorrow,
To paint an artificial smile,
Our troubles forgotten for a while,
We cling to it, with feeble hope,
A self-destructive, slippery slope,
Slow but sure demise, at our own expense,
Devoured by its influence,
But the peace we desperately wish to find,
Will not come from destroying the mind,
Treat grim thoughts like dark clouds; just watch them pass by,
And know your real blissful self, is the unblemished sky
