22.06.01 ethereal

lovebrigita

today he called her ethereal
he's right.
he's so right.
she has radiant skin, pretty light for a brown girl
it's free of any marks or blemishes, perfectly put together effortlessly
her eyes sparkle without the sun
delicate arms circle her as she spins in a brand new dress
she's quite literally running off into an blank field like it happens in the movies
so i couldn't be sure if she's real.
but then i saw what he said
and i knew
it was real.
i also knew
i could never be like her.
my skin left a trail of snowflakes everywhere i went
no matter how much ointment i drowned myself in.
my skin has crimson red scars everywhere you look
along with uneven ditches and bumps getting in the way.
the only thing i’ll ever be is
the ‘before’ picture on a lotion commercial.
she is always the ‘after’

Sad and depressing makes me think of all the little things we are all uncomfortable about ourselves and how they lower our self esteem 😢
