CLEMENCY

Madhushmita Das

Growing under her mother's shade

The little sapling did rejoice,

She grew higher, her mother the older

Yet she cheered to be beside her mother!!

All through storm and rain

Together they stood strong

Because they shared the roots same!!

Pristine leaves, multi-fragnant flowers and chirping birds

Hemmed around them

As they together sheltered strollers..

Little did they know

One odd day,

They will be strolling back

And thrash the harmony..

Yet she couldn't do anything

As she forgave and shared shade once again

With the vandals,

Who sent her mother abode

Because they shared the roots same!!
