Everywhere

Fire and Candles

You’re everywhere.

It’s nice, too.

Seeing you.

You’re like waterfalls

You fall where the cliff falls

And you’re like the pond skaters at the bottom

Skipping across the water because you're too light to sink

And dancing in the sunlight because its too easy to think

I like watching you dance,

and I like the cold sprinkles across my hot forehead

But I wish I could be there with you

Doing all those simple things you do

And I’d rather not be near you if not.

Because you're like caves

Dark and cold, you echo

And you're like the spiders inside

Crawling up my neck

My hands run everywhere to check

And you're like the snakes and the snails

You slither dry

You leave a trail

And I’d rather just stay home instead

And hate the you that’s in my head

I don’t like it outside

Because you are everywhere

And I can’t escape it

You’re the toxins in my air

But while I’m here alone I can hardly take it

Because you are the sunlight,

Not just the sun

And without you I can’t make it

  • Comment from author about the poem: One of the quickest things I've ever written, just on a whim to capture what I've been feeling. I just watched an episode of a show that hit pretty close to home, but I guess it wasn't close enough, and I needed it to be, so I wrote this.
