I Felt Pretty Today...

That quiet girl

I felt pretty today

Something I don't often say

I felt pretty today

And you went and took my pretty away.

It makes my stomach twist

And my chest tighten

It makes my eyes mist

And my anxiety heighten

And I want to scream…

But I hold it in.

Can’t you see how much it lowers my self esteem?

Can’t you see the sadness behind my grin?

Oh, how I hate feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.

Honest, raw, the rhyme softens the blow. Powerful.

You appear to be carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. Sometimes you just need to dump the baggage and love yourself more.
