Silence from within

martie borthwick

I sat with my head between my legs

Praying for the night skies to disappear

For the fists to stop bumping and plunging into my being

With every inch and vein

I prayed for the dawn to betray my sadness

I was afraid to give it meaning

Because now it became my life,

All the silence, from within
