Lord Montgomery

For two hundred and twenty five days

My eyes have cast a gaze

on language learning apps with games and tasks

Some tell me its all a farce

Ill share with you now, My high school language experience

Its been a journey I shall not lie

Late night studying has left me delirious

Sometimes I wonder why

but now as I watch international tv with a breeze

I've done Japanese for four years

What is next, Greek, Korean or Chinese

  • Comment from author about the poem: For five years I have learnt Japanese through school and I am going to continue to study it at University. it is such a thrill to learn a new language and I recommend it to all my fellow poets and poetry enthusiasts, as we are clearly all aware of the power of language. I don't think my language journey will stop at Japanese however and I cant wait to explore new grammatical patters and quirks!

    Lord Monty: I rarely do this , but since you are such a language aficionado, I feel it incumbent upon me to point out the following:
    - Farse should read farce;
    - Ill Should read I'll.

    Take care and good luck with your studies
