NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE POEM by Muhammad Danlami Muhammad (Sir. MDM)

I  W  I  L  L  T  E  L  L  G  O  D   by Sir. Mdm

I will tell God that even at Sixth-Two
The aged folk mount the corridor of power
The young folk are the gatekeeper
The Dogs likened unto thugs
The enslaved masterpiece without peace
Independent we claim
But blinded by the light
The idiocy of the youth!

I will tell God that even at Sixty-Two
The teacher of truth
Called the crazy blunt truth
Who blows the prudent truth
With the flute of justice
It’s all for the people
It’s all for the Younkers
Who bears the yoke?

I will tell God that even at Sixty-Two
The pitcher pitches for right
The creatures cry for the light
Ages have come by
The quest is quite the same
There’s no lightening without thunder
The wonders that sounds bring the light
Is no blunder.

I will tell God that even at Sixty-Two
The Mouth we have
but speak not  Is the best legacy,
or you're dead by the law.
Freedom of speech is now a hate preaching,
The teacher and preacher of truth flute.

Where are the youth? Wake up!
Here is the fluted truth
Birds in the sky are tired of the cliché
‘We are the future leader’,
Leader of tomorrow;
Panting for the morrow never to come
If we don’t track today.
The leading dead cause the living to bleed
Bleeding pen writes.

Where are the youth? Wake up!
In the vision of the pitcher that felt like an illusion
But wasn’t a hallucination,
The youth once led before the encroachment
Of the dark days.
No livelihood in the youth brotherhood
So they call us the lazy ones yet the dark weapon
Industrious but destruction for our vision
Of leading with a mantle.

Where are the youth? Wake up!
It is high time we hug the truth
Let's drink with the mug
The fruit of independence
We are the fruit
The fragrance of the nation
So arise oh compatriot youth
The time is now!
To take the Mantle!!

Where are the youth? Wake up!
Nigeria at Sixty-Two
Yet no unity but disunity
We call white racist
But black is full of racism
Calamities befall communities
When diversity has caused divisibility
No love, no serenity

Where are the youth? Wake up!
We need a federation, not a confederation
It will be a sweet sixty and eternity
Only if we celebrate the past and innovate the future now.
This isn’t once upon a time
It is all the time.

Three (no four!) poem pieces together on the same day, subject Nigeria. Is this a takeover of MPS, just an invasion, or a coup?
