Nigeria Independence Poem by ÏcØn

"THE JOURNEY TO FREEDOM" by ÏcØn

Each year marks a reminder
Of a time and a people
Of diverse culture religion and belief
Yet one sole aim 'freedom'

The woes of servitude
Of our great fathers
Who became victims and hero's of wars
Could still be heard

We heard of those who gave up
But the likes of jaja of ogpobo stood firm
We also heard of the Judas
Whose gr eed made them turn against their people

We also heard of discriminations
Bigotry and Nepotism
Even to the least of organizations
Where our forefathers worked menial jobs

While many died on the way
And we're called fallen hero's
The ones who we're left handica pped
Wished they we're long de ad

With utmost determination
In the walk to freedom
They felt still
At the end of the storm
