If The Moon Could Speak

Harsh_Raj

In the melancholy nights,
The heart at its plight
My mind wondering,
How I desperately needed some sunlight.
I gazed at the moon among the stars,
Just like me in the middle of my dreams' shards!

As it began to rain,
I held the beach sand in my hand
Watched it slip through my fists
And I was holding onto nothing.

The scattered moonlight rays,
Created patterns of stars on the ripples of the waves.
The raindrops must have been
Tears of the moon.
As it saw the reflection of the shards,
Across the waters along the dunes.
And hid behind the clouds
To hide the agony.
And I was recalling
All the past memories.

As soon as my eyes closed ,
She came in my sight like a beautiful rose.
The divine purity,
Blessings of the heaven,
I would have slept for ever
To behold the sight of this beauty.
To look at her some more
But, sigh!
My life has been a perfect example
Of the grave of buried hopes.

The fires of the hell,
Would have been frozen
But my love for her won't be eroded.
I would be always grateful to her,
To bring out my poetic side.
To realise that words define
What I could never falsify.

I looked at the sky,
The moon was shining again.
The rain had stopped,
And embracing each other with love,
The flamingos were out again.

Everyone came back to witness,
The beautiful scenery of the beach
I had, however, no need to stay there anymore
I turned back to fetch the song I wrote for her,
Which had flown from my hands and landed onto the shore,
The rain had however, already torn it apart.

I collected the pieces,
Put them in my pocket,
Then I looked back at the sky.
Through the flickering lamp post,
I saw the stars and the bright moonlight.

People were fascinated
By the beauty of the plains.
I turned back, lowered my hat
I walked away, drenched and broken.
Put my hands on my pockets
Then I smiled, and left the alleyway.
