For without you, I don't know who I am.

Bernard Gabriel Okurut

Perhaps,

...but a few lines of poorly written verse

Won't speak to your heart.

Am thinking of a bad joke not to crack,

Lest I upset you and break my heart.

Heavy sighs

And silence  paint pictures of you

At the back of my mind...

Save me from myself,

For without you, I don't know who I am.

  • Comment from author about the poem: These lines are inspired by my brother's painting. I looked at it and couldn't help thinking about my love.
