You shine bright 

And everybody knows

They look to the sun and they ask it to keep on shining 

They look to the sky and they just pray. All day. 

They look to you, they look to a star 

And they wish upon you 

Cause no one ever wishes for a...star 

They wish upon you

And they ask and they take 

And they say that you're great 

But they never want to know you 

And they say that it's love 

But the truth is all you ever hear is 

"Can  you help me find love" 

"Can you help me be great" 

"Can you help me?" "Can you help  me" 

And you would never wish for your pain 

Upon somebody else 

Oh the shame 

And the pain is eating you up 

But you're still shining 

But no matter how bright you are 

No one ever...wishes for...a star
