Sanctuary

quiet_thoughts

I think I'll sit and stay for awhile.

I have no one awaiting my return to a warm and loving home.

No gentle embrace to calm the anxious thoughts that I have no choice but to face;

I have no sanctuary.

But to view the sanctuary of another -

To know that others have peace -

Today, that is a blessing.

Maybe tomorrow I will wallow in the sounds of love and laughter,

To think myself unworthy and shameful, dark and unknown.

But today,

Oh today,

I will take their peace as my own.
