For All Those Before Me

Evan Paul Chieda

For all those before me

For your rotor tills and barley flies. Your western lamps and dusty mines. Your serendipitous cuss your barter bells and unholiest of unholy’s.

For those before me

For your rabid stares and white bark dreams. For your languid cares and stand-off streams. For your callus ambers waived.

For those before me

For those arrogant boasts and ducktail roasts to tide the last nights lashings. Blood stained and sailed.

For your caucacious skinned scams that defamed the masses. Black bowel to port chained sinners to song, taken by the sterns ghostly gods prayer. Taken to the white mans soils begost with his soiled rags and tatters wore.

For those before me

With black boil cuffs of diamonds. So eager to adorn your savage perils of the days human slaughter. Congratulations are in order for the ones who dare not look, for those that dare not ask for those before me.
