The Gardener's Lament

Harmony1964

I see the storm with wind and slanting rain.

The heavy clouds make me so very sad.

And have caused my heart quite a bout of pain.

I want the sun to shine and make me glad.

Tired of the days and days of rain so harsh,

I yearn for grass, on bare toes, like a lad.

My garden looks and is a soggy marsh.

Three weeks, not one full day of warming sun!

An attempt to mulch or plant: quite a farce.

Managing with water deep is no fun.

I miss the earth: soil beneath my knees.

With chores I struggle and am never done.

I wait and wait and hope to feel and see.

The sunshine bright all day among my trees.
